A reconstruction of the ego concept

Ego Perception: Problematic Paradigm offers an alternative perspective on Freud's structural psyche apparatus. It treats ego not as one isolated agency among three, but as the person's global organization through which psychic life is assembled, governed, and maintained.

Across historical, psychoanalytic, psychological, philosophical, and systems perspectives, the book examines the relationships among ego, self, identity, need, fear, defense, conscience, attachment, and the organization of experience.
